iPhone owners can now Periscope from a GoPro

Livestreaming app Periscope is now able to do more than simply broadcast footage from the device it's running on. In partnership with GoPro, iPhone owners are able to livestream video straight from their action-cam.

Periscope is able to broadcast footage from both the GoPro HERO4 Black and GoPro HERO4 Silver. At present, no other GoPro cameras are compatible with Periscope.

"GoPro enables people to capture and share their experiences in the most immersive way possible, and the integration with Periscope provides GoPro users with a great, real-time platform to share their content," said GoPro President Tony Bates.

Once a compatible GoPro is in video mode, iPhone owners simply connect to the GoPro's wireless network, open Periscope, and tap broadcast. Broadcasters are able to switch between GoPro and iPhone cameras on the fly.

While GoPro broadcast functionality is currently limited to Periscope users on iOS, GoPro-powered livestreams are still viewable in Periscope's Android app.
