Indians to avoid Fallout 3

Fallout 3 isn’t being released in India because of “culturual insensitivities” over nuclear warfare.

Fallout 3 won’t be sold in India next week due to fears over a cultural backlash.

The post-apocalyptic action RPG features the remnants of nuclear warfare, which was deemed potentially insensitive in India, a country that had a nuclear standoff with Pakistan in 2002.

Only the Xbox 360 version was scheduled for release, but Microsoft India, who are responsible for the distribution of Fallout 3 in India, have made it clear in a statement that the game will not be sold in the country.

“Microsoft constantly endeavors to bring the best games to Indian consumers in sync with their international release,” said Microsoft India in a statement. “However, in light of cultural sensitivities in India, we have made the business decision to not bring Fallout 3 into the country.”

Bethesda Softworks, developers of Fallout 3, and Red Ant Interactive, the Australian distributor, were contacted but had failed to respond at the time of writing.
