In the imaging and audio department, the phone packs an 8.0-megapixel auto focus rear-facing camera with HDR and a 1.0-megapixel HD front facing camera. The phone also utilises dual-microphone noise-reduction technology, a Dolby sound system and stereo recording.

The Ascend Mate will have Huawei’s own Emotion UI on top of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device will also feature several software enhancements including the company’s Magic Touch technology that helps improve display responsiveness, a duo of power management features namely: QPC (Quick Power Control) and ADRX (Automated Discontinuous Reception) power saving technology that allows the phone’s 4050mAh battery to last for up to two days on a single charge.

The Huawei Ascend Mate will be available in crystal black and will be on sale in Australia at Harvey Norman on April 20 with a RRP of $429 with a Bonus Boost $40 prepaid starter kit.
