HP Slate Designed For Multi-Taskers

  • Uses webOS
  • Integrated messaging
  • Automatically syncs contacts/calendars etc with social networking

HP new tablet has a 9.7-inch diagonal flush capacitive multi-touch display, virtual keyboard, support for Adobe Flash Player in the browser and access to thousands of webOS applications– HP TouchPad is a multi-tasking master allowing consumers to seamlessly transition between work and play.

Its user interface is a visual representation of a workspace, so users can manage their work and life in a naturally intuitive way that’s easy and fun, claims HP. The power of webOS next-level multitasking lets users have multiple applications running at the same time. WebOS shows activities in the form of cards, not as a sea of application icons on numerous home screens.

As new activities are launched, webOS will automatically group related cards – for example, an email and an associated web page – together in a card stack, so you can easily track all related items together.

The HP TouchPad also features HP Synergy, which keeps your contacts, calendars, messages, photos, and email automatically synced from sources like Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Yahoo!, Skype, and Microsoft Exchange. TouchPad also offers easy access to instant messaging, videos and video calling, which is said to make communications simpler, richer and in your control.

Connected photo albums make it easy to share and view your pictures directly from popular services such as Facebook, Snapfish and Photobucket. It works seamlessly with TouchPad’s user interface for a natural and efficient experience.

You can use the TouchPad around the house using a wifi connection. It utilises Beats Audio, which allows users to hear music the way the artist intended. With the Just Type feature, users can start an email, create a message, update their status, and search for favourite websites.

Usrers can read and write email, view work and personal inboxes together, or toggle between them. The virtual full QWERTY keyboard includes a number row, which reduces keyboard switching, making typing fast and easy, says HP.

Integrated messaging conveniently combines all text messages, picture messages and IM conversations with one person into a single view, and users can connect through Google Talk, AIM and Yahoo! Messenger.

TouchPad powers on instantly and brings users back to exactly where they left off, whether they were in the middle of composing an email, playing a game or browsing a web page.

With its 1.3-megapixel front-facing webcam, TouchPad offers video calling capability. It’s also compatible with HP’s printing solutions, so users can wirelessly print documents, photos and emails to compatible wireless and networked HP printers.

TouchPad hasbuilt-in HP Touchstone technology for easy charging, so it’s compatible out of the box with the HP Touchstone for TouchPad . Charge a TouchPad in either portrait or landscape mode and it launches Exhibition mode without removing the TouchPad case. The webOS Exhibition feature lets users run other HP technologies in conjunction with the TouchPad including the Touchstone and Exhibition devices.

Optional accessories for the HP TouchPad include the HP Touchstone Charging Dock, the HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard and the HP TouchPad Case (sold separately).
