Ohio teen, Daniel Petric, has been found guilty of murdering his mother after he was banned from playing Halo 3. The teen shot both his parents in the head. The teen who was obsessed with the game cooked up the plot to kill his parents after they banned him from playing and took the game away from him.

In court it was alleged that on the night of the murder, 17 year old Petric used his father’s key to open a box and remove the game, plus a 9mm handgun. Then according to reports by AAP, Petric went into the room and said to his parents: “Would you close your eyes? I have a surprise for you.”

Petric’s father, Mark, said he was expecting a nice surprise. Instead, his head went numb from the gunshot. Petric’s father, Mark survived the shooting, but his other victim, him mother Susan, died of a gunshot wound to the head. Petric then fled the scene- taking the copy of the game with him.

Judge James Burge, presiding over the case, rejected the defence lawyers plea of insanity – believing that the teen may have been addicted to the game but had been plotting the crime for some time.

The teenager was found guilty of aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder and other charges in the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas. Petric now faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.
