Facebook Reaches 200 Million Milestone

Popular social networking site now has 1 in 30 people signed up

Facebook now has more than 200 million users, with over 100 million of them logging on at least once a day, according to new statistics just posted on its website.

Most users have over 120 friends, with the fastest growing demographic being those that are 35 years or older.

Not yet five years old, Facebook has almost 70 million more members than the next most popular social networking site MySpace, even though the latter was launched first.

It shows no sign of slowing down, but like most businesses will probably reach a state of critical mass before settling down. In its short life time is has courted controversy with privacy issues, and almost caused a huge backlash when it made wholesale changes without consulting its members.
