Ex-HP exec steal IBM secrets

Reuters reports that a former HP Vice President, Atul Malhotra, has plead guilty to stealing trade secrets whilst working for IBM and then sharing that info with HP.

Reuters reports that a former HP Vice President, Atul Malhotra, has plead guilty to stealing trade secrets whilst working for IBM and then sharing that info with HP.

Malhotra, has pleaded guilty in a San Jose Federal Court to one count of theft of trade secrets and now faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

Malhotra worked as a Sales Director for IBM Global Services until April 2006 and was privy to confidential information; including IBM product costs and materials. Its said that two months after assuming a new role as Vice President of imaging and printing services at rival computing company HP, Malhotra passed the IBM information on to two senior HP vice-presidents, in emails with the subject “For Your Eyes Only – confidential” suggesting it would help to better understand the rival computing company’s goals…
