Dell has made the leap into the netbook arena with the launch of the new Inspiron Mini 9 which goes on sale today.

Dell has made the leap into the netbook arena with the launch of the new Inspiron Mini 9 which goes on sale today.

The Mini 9 will have similar specs to the Eee PC. Featuring a 8.9 inch screen, the unit weighs in at just under 1kg and utilises a 16GB solid state drive. It sports three USB ports, an SD card reader, headphone and mic sockets, ethernet and a VGA out port.

The processor is a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom and comes with one gigabyte of system memory. The netbook also provides both WiFi and Bluetooth access.

The machine ships with a free 2GB plan on the Box.net online file storage and collaboration site and comes in black only.

Australian orders will be shipped from September 10.
