Social networking site, Bebo is at the centre of a bullying scandal that has resulted in a 13 year old committing suicide.
After months of cyberbullying, where he was taunted over his ’emo’ appearance, 13 year old Sam Leeson, a student from Tredworth, Gloucestershire, hanged himself in his bedroom.
Sam’s mother Sally Cope, 45, said the family only learned of the cyberbullying when they checked his Bebo page after his death. Speaking with The Sun, Ms Cope called for a crackdown on cyber bullies.
“Sam was such a loving boy,” Ms Cope told The Sun.
“He was into his appearance and often wore his black skinny jeans. If anything can come from this utterly pointless death of a lovely boy we want to try and help.”
According to The Daily Mail, Bebo users who taunted Sam on the site have since left messages apologising for their conduct. It is not known if they went to his school.
