At an asking price of AUD$1,199, the Xperia Z5 Premium simply isn't worth the money. It's not a bad phone by any measure, but it's existence is based on a gimmick that doesn't quite justify itself. If you really love Sony and want a flagship phablet, the Xperia Z5 Premium will still fit the bill and perform admirably, it just doesn't quite hold its own against other devices in the same price range. Samsung's flagships give you slicker design, Apple's give you cleaner software, the Nexus 6P gives you better value, and all three have a better camera.
It's always fun to see manufacturers cram cool tech into new devices, and while a 4K screen in a smartphone certainly fits that bill, it's just not practical at the moment.
