Australian Review: Sony SRS-XB3 Bluetooth Speaker – Untz untz untz

The very first thing you'll notice about Sony's SRS-XB3 Bluetooth speaker is that over a quarter of the box is taken up by the words "EXTRA BASS". For a small speaker, it's quite a bold proclamation (in both the figurative and literal sense in this case). You see, smaller speakers are typically restricted by their size when it comes to the frequencies they can reproduce, and bass is normally the first casualty. Competing speakers like the UE Boom 2 offer a little bit of oomph, but they're noticeably weaker when it comes to the low end. With the SRS-XB3, Sony is promising a small speaker that doesn't compromise on bass.
