Apple Netbook In The Pipeline?

Having been the subject of many rumours, is Steve Jobs actually working on an Apple netbook

A story out of the Wall St Journal last weekend stated that Steve Jobs was still actively involved in most things Apple, and was still the go-to guy when it came to new gadgets.

Tucked away in all the blather were the words Apple is “working on new iPhone models and a portable device that is smaller than its current laptop computers but bigger than the iPhone or iPod Touch.”, which certainly piqued our interest. Could this be the long-awaited Apple netbook that seems to have been in the pipeline forever?

Jobs has always denied that they would not manufacture a cheap PC, but some are suggesting it could be a tablet-type unit based on the iPhone Touch. Could be interesting, but the netbook seems more likely, especially when a recent Reuters report stated that touchscreen supplier Wintek was looking at shipping a 10-inch touchscreen to Apple – too big for a phone, too small for a notebook.

Like everything else Apple does, secrecy is paramount so when the new device is unveiled we can all go “ohhh”, “ahhh”. Watch this space. We reckon, come the second half of this year all will be revealed.
