007 beaten out by Edward

The latest 007 movie, Quantum of Solace, has been tipped at the box office by the movie adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight novel.

Quantum of Solace, the highly awaited follow-up to 007 flick Casino Royale, has been tipped at the box office by vampire romance story Twilight.

Twilight grossed just under $US70 million in its first weekend, besting Quantum of Solace which grossed $US26.7 million in the same period.

American box office tracker Media by Numbers released the figures. They also revealed animated film “Bolt” came in 3rd place with $US26.2 million in ticket sales over the same period.

The success of the teenage love story has prompted Summit Entertainment to green-light a sequel to be produced off the second book in the series, New Moon.

Twilight is set to hit Australian cinemas on December 11.
