Microsoft today released the first trailer for its live action Halo series produced by Ridley Scott and penned by Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring. Known as Halo: Nightfall, the series takes place between Halo 4 and the upcoming Halo 5 and appears to revolve around a new character known as Jameson Locke.

Based on the 70 seconds of footage available, Nightfall looks far better than a Halo miniseries should be, given Scott's involved, this isn't entirely unsurprising. The five part series will be included with The Master Chief Collection, and will also be streaming via Xbox Live. Nightfall's first episode is scheduled to "air" in early November.
