Xbox 360 Sales Up 17 Percent

Even though Sony’s new slim-line PS3 has been grabbing all the headlines lately with skyrocketing sales, it’s easy to forget there is another console out there that is doing all right for itself.

Even though Sony’s new slim-line PS3 has been grabbing all the headlines lately with skyrocketing sales, it’s easy to forget there is another console out there that is doing all right for itself.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has shown a modest growth of 17 percent to the year-to-date, according to the latest results from the NPD report. While the latest PS3 has shown a 300 percent increase in sales, this is to be expected when a popular piece of gaming equipment is launched – especially a cut price version.

With the Xbox suffering quiet a bit of bad press of late due to its Red Ring of Death, Microsoft executives cant’ be too upset about such growth. Long term investors like this kind of product – one that shows consistent, steady growth. Now, if they could only sort out the RRoD problems, then even more growth might be at hand.

Australia-only figures were not available when going to press.
