Despite all the hype surrounding its release, Windows 8 sales are showing to be going on sluggishly, capturing only 1.04% of the market as of November 11th.
According to web analytic company NetApplications, the 1.04% global desktop market share is about the same OS market share as Linux at 1.4%. In comparison, Apple's OS X holds a 9% market hold.
The new Windows operating system launched at the end of October and Microsoft claims it sold 4 million copies in the first three days of launch. This may not be as good when translated to stats though.
Windows 7 has 45% market share, Windows XP 39 % and Windows Vista with 5.4%.
Windows 8 Touch is not looking so good either, with NetApplications putting it at 0.02% of the tablet space, slightly better than Windows 8 RT Touch which, statistically, has captured zero percent so far.
Microsoft is keeping mum on all the figures stacked against them. We’ll probably see concrete numbers when they break their silence.
