After facing the European Courts for unfair business practice for tying Internet Explorer to Windows, Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 will come with an ‘off’ switch

Writing about the decison in his blog, Microsoft documents and printing team group program manager Jack Mayo commented:.”In Windows 7 we are giving customers more control, flexibility and choice in managing the features available in this version of Windows,”

“For any of the features listed you can change the state to enable it or disable it.”

From Windows 7 onwards users will be able to check off and on applcatiions via the Windows Features Control Panel. Applications on the list include Windows Media Player, Search, and Internet Explorer 8.
