LG’s new phone in the mobile space comes with a transparent keypad and 8 megapixel camera
LG Electronics says it has released the world’s first mobile phone designed with transparent slide-out keypad.
The LG GD900 Crystal’s Touchpad slides out from under the display and emits a soft, warm glow. It is made of durable tempered glass and is framed and reinforced by a band of Liquidmetal, a composite alloy that is ultra-strong and able to absorb shock and vibration.
This unit can be used in the same way as a touchpad on a laptop computer or with a Gesture Shortcut. Gesture Shortcuts reduce the amount of steps required to access multi-tasking features. For instance, users can immediately jump to the web browser in the middle of writing an e-mail by tracing a symbol on the Crystal Touchpad with their finger.
Also featured is the vivid and content-rich S-class User Interface (UI) and an additional chipset dedicated to multimedia and graphics content.
Its 8 megapixel autofocus camera displays photos on a high resolution 3-inch WVGA LCD touchscreen and with the auto-rotating display. The handset also has a MP3 player and can hold up to 32GB of music, photos or data using the expandable memory card slot.
Finally, the Crystal is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing user to connect to the internet via wireless hotspots and it also supports Bluetooth 2.1 for connectivity to other devices.
