Taxi driver takes on GPS

Who would win in a race? Someone using the latest in GPS technology or a London cab driver? If you guessed the GPS, you’d be wrong.

In a test of man versus machine, the BBC recently pitted a man using a TomTom GO 720 satellite navigation system against a London cabbie using nothing but his bare wit and skills. The cab driver beat the GPS solution by over 27 minutes in a test that took both cars through some of the more busy areas of the London streets.

Tests like this just go to prove that if you already know where you are, a GPS might not be what you should be using.
