The MA 15+ rated House of the Dead recently released for the ‘family orientated’ Wii console has caused a ruckus for its excessive use of profanity.

House of the Dead: Overkill features 189 uses of the f-word- earning the game a listing in the Guiness Book of World Records for most profanity in a game…

The Office of Film and Literature Classification has given the game an MA15+ rating for its Strong Horror and Violence – although there has been no warning for the game’s strong language.

Whilst family groups have been up in arms about the game’s strong language Sega Australia PR manager Vispi Bhopti says the House of the Dead: Overkill game reflects the older audience that is now playing computer games.

“For a long time we have known that gaming is no longer enjoyed exclusively by younger audience and we are proud to offer entertaining content for all ages,” he said.

“Much like any other style of entertainment, not all content is suitable or relevant to everyone.”
