Sony Announces PS Vita TV

Aside from the next-generation PS Vita, Sony also announced late last night the PlayStation Vita TV – a set-top box that connects to a TV and provides users access to a range of entertainment services and PlayStation 4 cross-functionality.The device will cost around 9840 Yen or roughly AU$107 and will be released by November in Japan.

The device will cost around 9840 Yen or roughly AU$107 and will be released by November in Japan. The PS Vita TV supports Japan-specific video services including Hulu, Tsutaya TV, Nico Nico Douga and of course Sony’s video unlimited service.

The set-top box will also sport Vita-style apps such as the Live Tweet app for Twitter and eBook reader software. Aside from being a set-top box, the PS Vita TV will also function as an extender for the PS4 allowing users to play games to another TV in case the one currently connected to the console is not available at the same time it can also be used as a second Vita system to enable ad-hoc multiplayer gaming.

The device will also be available with a controller and storage card for 14995 Yen or around AU$163.
