SanDisk rumour suggests new memory cards on the way

Earlier in the year, memory makers SanDisk came up with the idea of a read-only memory format you could use in devices like your digital camera. Well, based on some customer surveys and rumours this week, the idea looks like it might be coming to fruition.

The memory cards look like they’ll fit your existing cameras probably making them an SD standard and will be large enough to store at least one hundred photos per card. This means you could essentially buy a 256mb card for only a couple of bucks.

There is a catch to all of this though as write-once cards mean just that: you won’t be deleting any photos of those cards. You’ll still be able to take them off and onto a computer or printer, but formating these cards just won’t happen.
