Police seize one million ‘pirate’ DVD’s

Police have found one million discs of allegedly illegal music and videos in a raid in south-west Sydney today.

A police raid has found up to one million allegedly illegal movies and music discs in south-west Sydney.

It is potentially the largest ever collection of pirate music and Asian movies seized in Australia.

Five search warrants were executed by Camden police today.

NSW Police allege a pirate manufacturing ring used a shop front in Cabramatta to distribute the copyrighted material.

Key members of the ring then allegedly moved the operation across Sydney.

Dean Mitchell, investigations manager of Music Industry Piracy Investigations, welcomed the find and said physical piracy was still a huge problem for the industry.

“The commercial scale production and distribution of pirate music discs robs artists and songwriters of their rightful rewards.”
