Available in Australia from July, the Lumix G X VARIO 12-35mm lens offers a versatile zoom range of 12-35mm (35mm camera equivalent: 24-70mm) and features F2.8 brightness for the entire zoom range.

Suitable for capturing a wide range of scenes from dynamic landscapes to portraits by taking advantage of features such as defocus and fast shutter speed, the lens's image rendering provides for lifelike textures and crisp edge-to-edge contrast, claims the manufacturer.

Measuring around 73.8 mm in length and 305 grams in weight, the lens is comprised of 14 lenses in 9 groups, with two of the lenses designed to help reduce chromatic aberrations whilst also ensuring corners and edges remain sharp.

This lens is designed to be dust and splash resistant with a rubber ring on the lens mount and using Panasonic's Nano Surface Coating technology, the reflection can be minimised across the entire visual light range (380nm-780nm) meaning amazingly clear pictures with dramatic reduction of ghosts and flare will be the result.

The Power O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabiliser) which is newly integrated in the LUMIX lens, effectively compensates for not only small, fast movements but also large, slow ones, making it easy to shoot very clear shots even in low-lit situations such as in night time or indoors.

According to Panasonic, the inclusion of a stepping motor makes the focusing action “smooth and silent for use in both photo and video recording”.
