Paint to soon block WiFi?

Have you been looking for a new way to secure those wireless transmissions? You might just need a new coat of paint…

While we look at giving the CyberShack offices a new coat of paint, the University of Tokyo have come clean with a new paint invention they’ve been working on which is sure to make many the office IT manager happy for years to come.

A research team from the University of Tokyo have developed an aluminium-iron oxide based paint the can block radio frequencies in such a way whereby WiFi transmissions are among the signals blocked.

The idea is thus simple: paint your office with the new wireless-blocking paint and anyone on the other side of the painted walls won’t be able to snag on to your wireless network.

While it won’t be out for a while yet, the good news is that it will probably won’t be a super expensive way to be secure.
