Optus and St George buddy up

According to news reported by The Australian, St George Bank will be buddying up with Optus to the tune of a cool 100 million as the bank signs off on a five year deal to uprgrade their communications network.
Optus will also manage the bank’s ATM and EFTPOS networks, as well as provide support for the bank’s mobile and BlackBerry fleets via the Optus 3G network.
The contract renewal extends a partnership between the two companies which began in 2001 when Optus first came on board to work on teh bank’s communications network. “This new contract brings our two organisations significantly closer as we partner on projects that create even greater value for our customers,” Phil Soutter, St George general manager, IT Production, said in a statement. According to the Australian, the network supporting St George’s branches will be upgraded to the new Optus Evolve network, which delivers business grade IP services, and can be built-out as required.
