Obama uses video games for campaign

Barack Obama has made a push to appeal to youth by advertising inside video games.

The American youth has historically had a poor turn-out when it comes to elections.

Voting is optional in the United States, and there has been a big push by both political parties to increase voter turnout come next month. But the most successful of these has been Barack Obama.

To take advantage of the youth vote, the Obama campaign has become the first to purchase advertising space inside Electronic Arts’ video games, including titles like Burnout: Paradise and EA’s range of sports games, like NASCAR, NHL, NBA and Madden 09.

A spokeswoman from EA refused to reveal how much the Democrat’s paid for the ads, but did say the ads would run on the Xbox Live versions of nine EA games until November 3.
