A Northern Territory man has racked up a $200,000 mobile phone bill on his company phone. It is believed the man accumulated the debt in just over a month by browsing the net and downloading movies.

The man who was a public servant for the NT government has since left his job. At this stage it is unknown as to whether the man was sacked, then went on a download spree; or whether the debt was accumulated whilst on the job.

The NT government moved to investigate the case when the first phone bill came in shortly after the man left his position with NT government. Speaking with the Northern Territory News, a source suggested that “most of the debt was accumulated within a month or so”.

Police have been called in, and are currently investigating to see if fraud charges should be laid.
