Samsung’s recent alignment with another company may soon spell the end of the use of plastic in the company’s line of consumer electronic products.

The Korean electronics giant has partnered with SGL group of Germany which happen to specialise in the production of carbon fibre materials. The joint venture will be 50/50 partnership and will be known as the Samsung SGL Carbon Composite Materials. The JV will provide technology for use in the company’s consumer electronics products including its line of smartphones.

According to Samsung, the partnership is aimed at making the company a leading player in the development and application of carbon-fibre products and will ensure an exclusive supply of carbon fibre composite materials to Samsung.
