New patent applications sent through by Apple today are suggesting that Apple is working on two extensions of what they were going for with the iPhone technology.

The first patent comes in the form of a new phone patent which combines the iPod Nano with a phone technology. From the looks of it, Apple don’t look to be throwing their click-wheel technology out the window as the design of the phone used the click wheel as the interface for the phone.

The second patent is for a new version of the Apple Mighty Mouse. Recently, the Apple mouse was given an extra button (as well as more functionality) and the name “Mighty Mouse” was given to it. With this patent application, it looks like Apple might be working on a mouse that lacks tactile feedback. The iPhone works by way of a touchscreen, but this idea looks to utilise a sensor that will interpret hand gestures instead of the need for button clicking.

We’ll keep you updated with news about these cool technologies when we find out more in the coming months.
