The NBA Live series by Electronic Arts was originally released on the Sega Megadrive back in 1995. The series has been redesigned over the years to continually update the level of realism and accuracy of the players and their surroundings. Real life basketball legends have been monitored and recorded, with results being used to mimic the skills and abilities of their game personalities.

The games set up is designed to make you feel like one of the greats – with quarter times, benched players, screaming coaches, a lively crowd and even cheer leaders apparent throughout the match. Those who are loyal basketball fans or have attended an actual NBA match in the US will agree EA has missed nothing.

The level of control regarding player and team choices would be most appreciated by the hardcore basketball fans. NBA Live is updated daily with current stats, ratings, streaks, tendencies and more, to offer the most realistic gaming experience. This DNA technology allows you to pick the best players to create a winning team. You even have the option of building your own team up from nothing to all out success! Hiring your own staff, holding training camps and managing their schedules and roster are some examples of the level of detail offered.

Although it all sounds very overwhelming for those who aren’t up to date on the basketball scene, NBA also offers Quick Play modes and short training courses to help you build your skills. The basic b-ball maneuvers are relatively easy to pick up and will at least keep you entertained for a little while.
