Released back in December in Japan, Nintendo Australia has locked in the March 23 local release date of Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate for both Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. Aside from being available at retail, the game can also be downloaded digitally from the eShop.  It will also launch in New Zealand on the same date.

While essentially being the same game on either console, players who own both versions will be able to transfer their save files between the two consoles. This means you can embark on an epic quest at home on Wii U, then transfer said file across to your 3DS for portable questing.

Both versions will support local and online multiplayer with up to four other players. Additionally, Wii U players can use the GamePad’s built in microphone to chat with their online buddies, making for a more streamlined and hassle free online experience.

To tide you through the March 23 release, Nintendo is releasing a demo from February 21 for Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate, which will be downloadable from the Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and 3DS. The demo will include one beginner and one advanced quest, with up to 12 weapons to choose from for players to tackle Lagombi and Plesioth.
