Microsoft Back Down From Apple

Apple has decided to adjust ads that Microsoft claimed were misleading

As mentioned in Cybershacklast week, Apple took exception to a range of ad being run by Microsoft, which the Seattle-based company said was misleading.

At the time Microsoft COO Kevin Turner said “It was the single greatest phone call in history that I’ve ever taken in business,” when he found out that Apple’s lawyers were on the case. However, although it was the greatest call he had taken, it looks like they have backed down.
In the ad, law student Lauren wanted to spend a maximum of US$1,700 on a laptop, but is heard saying: “This Mac is $2,000, and that’s before adding anything.”

In the advert her Mother asks her why she would pay twice the price, which Lauren says she wouldn’t.

Microsoft has now cut that out of the advert. Now Lauren merely says: “It seems like you’re paying a lot for the brand.”

As mentioned in our original story, the pricing aspects were wrong, which is why Microsoft has said they changed the ads.
