Keeping An Eye On Friends

Google’s new Social Search function allows you to find out what your friends are up to

By using your Google account, you can now be part of a Google Labs experiment called Social Search that allows you to find out what friends and family are saying online.

So how does it know what to look for? The function looks for people amongst your Gmail or Google Talk contacts, or other Google related media, and then finds out what they have been saying online via a social search.

Now before some of you privacy advocates go off the deep end, bear in mind this information is already available on the net. All this function does is narrow a search down a tad when you are looking to see what people you are associated with have said online. This means it integrates blog posts and other information written by people you know into a search result. .
