Internet traffic on the rise

Reports from TeleGeography Research suggest that international internet traffic is on the rise with traffic growing 53 percent over the 2007-2008 financial year.

Reports from TeleGeography Research suggest that international internet traffic is on the rise with traffic growing 53 percent over the 2007-2008 financial year. Whilst this is definite growth in the online arena, it is an 8% lower growth rate than the previous 12 month period.

The largest take up on Internet services were in developing regions where the internet is less mature. For example traffic between the US and Latin America doubled.

TeleGeography research director Alan Mauldin suggested that the number of new broadband subscribers has been falling since 2001, but that the overall increase in internet traffic remains high because user demand for online video services such as youtube.
