Google’s new press invites have led people to believe that it may just launch its new Nexus smartphones in New York on October 29.

Google’s new press invites have led people to believe that it may just launch its new Nexus smartphones in New York on October 29.

The invitation features the Google search bar widget from Android with the cryptic message 'The playground is open.' Behind it, and the company logo is image of the New York City skyline.

The first guess is the LG Nexus 4 but reports also suggest HTC’s Nexus 5 phablet, while Google-branded Sony and Samsung devices have also been mooted.

There have also been talks of a 32GB version of the Google Nexus 7 tablet as well as a 10-inch Nexus 10.

There are also speculation of multiple devices launches, following widespread reports that Google intends to break from tradition and work with multiple manufacturing partners for the next Nexus launch.

In addition, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates will definitely be in the mix of announcements.
