The talking shoe is part of the “Art,Copy,Code” project which aims to bring a social, life-life experience into everyday objects. Basically the talking shoe is a shoe equipped with a pressure sensor, an accelerometer and a gyroscope that connects via Bluetooth to a phone or computer and gives sarcastic comments or faint praises depending on its user’s walking habits.

According to its developers, the product or at least the concept is aimed at improved advertising for different brands of apparel that blends in a bit of social into the advertising mix. If the technology lifts off, brands such as Nike or Adidas can have professional athletes use health-tracking shoes and get their training performance broadcasted through the athlete’s social networks.

At present, the only thing that the talking shoe can do is act as a motivational coach to its users and its main purpose is just for experimentation only. Nevertheless, this talking shoe clearly shows how Google may expand its core business into wearable technology especially if you think about its Glass project.
