Facebook is suing a German website StudiVZ for allegedly stealing its look, feel, features and services. The company has filed a complaint in the California courts seeking to shut down StudiVZ.

The German company, in turn has filed for a judgment in District Court in Stuttgart – claiming that Facebook is only attempting to sue them as Facebook has failed to achieve success in the German marketplace.

According to the papers filed in the California courts, Facebook wants “to end StudiVZ’s illegal activity” lest Facebook’s own reputation be harmed by association.

“As with any counterfeit product, StudiVZ’s uncontrolled quality standards for service, features and privacy negatively impact the genuine article” says a Facebook spokesperson…
