AMD Announces Radeon R9 And R7 Video Cards

AMD today unveiled its newest line of Radeon video cards that aims to unify PC gaming and console gaming. The AMD Radeon R9 and R7 graphics cards were developed with the company’s Unified Gaming Strategy in mind. It features the company’s Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture that allows games to be maximised across different platforms. 

 

AMD today unveiled its newest line of Radeon video cards that aims to unify PC gaming and console gaming.

The AMD Radeon R9 and R7 graphics cards were developed with the company’s Unified Gaming Strategy in mind. It features the company’s Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture that allows games to be maximised across different platforms.

GCN also features a new programming interface called Mantle that assists game developers who build low-level code into their games get better performance from GCN-based devices without having to re-optimize for each platform. The cards also utilise AMD’s TrueAudio technology that enhances audio realism by simulating the human brain’s perception of real-world sound.

Last, but certainly not the least, the graphics card support multi-display technology. The Radeon R9 and R7 are made for gaming on UltraHD displays (3840 x 2160). AMD says the new graphics cards will ship sometime in the “near future” with prices ranging from $89 to something north of $299 for the top of the line model.
