Another game gets added to the Australian censorship list for Christmas. This time it’s F.E.A.R. 2.
The Office of Film, Literature and Classification have continued to wave the ban-stick, this time refusing classification for Monolith’s action-thriller game F.E.A.R. 2.
The board failed to release any reason for the refused classification, but given other games that have been blocked this year, like Fallout 3 and Silent Hill: Homecoming, it’s likely that a measure of violence, gore, drugs, or a combination of all three is at work somehow.
Typically, the decision has caused ire among gamers and will no doubt spark debate about the lack of an R18+ classification for games in Australia – but given our current political climate, things are unlikely to change any time soon.
