LG’s new XBOOM speakers are set to party

LG is set to expand its XBOOM speaker lineup this year, with two new models announced at CES.

The new flagship XBOOM mini component model CL98 offers 3500W of output with a new horn design for crisper treble frequencies.

LG’s new all-in-one model OL100 puts out 2000W of power, with a new air duct behind the driver to provide better frequency reproduction across the board. LG’s partner Meridian Audio also provided an equalisation preset to produce clearer vocals and responsive bass.

These new speakers add to the existing lineup of XBOOM AI-assistant enabled speakers; the WK7 and WK9 and the portable PK3, PK5 and PK7 models.

On the technology side, LG is offering an aptX HD codec that supports lossless high resolution audio streaming over Bluetooth, meaning there’s no drop in quality when streaming 24 bit audio. A new Karaoke mode offered on their 2019 products, automatically ducking the vocals down on most tracks. LG also offers a DJ App for Android and iOS devices, providing users the ability to fade tracks across, and even scratch or loop audio.

Local pricing and availability is yet to be announced.
