A leaked 56-page Microsoft document has been circulating, allegedly revealing details on the Xbox 720 and the new version of Kinect.

According to the document, the 720 console will feature Blu-ray functionality for showing high-def movies and will be able to play films in 3D.

Tagging along the promised 6x performance increase, the new device will also have true 1080p output with full 3D support and an ‘always on’ state for the console.

The hardware would be designed to be scalable in the number of CPU cores and their frequencies.

Moreover, Microsoft seems to be choosing between six or eight ARM or x86 cores clocked at 2GHz each with 4GB of DDR4 memory alongside three PPC cores clocked at 3.2GHz each for backwards compatibility with existing Xbox 360 titles.

The Kinect 2 is said to become more accurate and will have stereo imaging, better voice recognition, support for four-player tracking, an improved camera, and dedicated hardware processing. There are also talks of special controllers, such as a bat for a baseball game.

Price point is at US$299.
