Police held up by cardboard figure 01 Dec 2008
A cardboard figure of a man inside a bank held up police for an hour and a half yesterday.
The cut-out was inside a Somerset County bank in America, where police were alerted around 8.40pm.
Upon arriving, the police saw a person through the windows from the bank and promptly sealed off the area to traffic.
Residents in three nearby apartment buildings were also evacuated.
Police attempted to make contact with the figure, including using bullhorns and the bank's land-line.
After failing to get a response, a SWAT team was sent in, said county prosecutor Wayne Forrest.
No-one knows if the cardboard figure was taken into custody, however.
