You’re Banned!

Microsoft continues with its no-nonsense policy of banning Xbox Live users who use pirated games

Technology is s two-edged sword, especially for those gamers who like the benefit of using an Xbox, but don’t want to fork out for the original games.

With the ability to tell if a console is playing pirated discs, Microsoft has taken upon itself to ban accounts that have been modified to play pirated games. If you’re not into Xbox Live, then it probably doesn’t matter, but if you are then you might have to unmodify your console to get back in the game.

According to Microsoft via IGN “All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs violates the Xbox LIVE terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox LIVE. The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them.”

Fair point to them, but then again, maybe the prices of their games could be more consumer friendly, thus taking away the incentive to purchase pirated games.
