Yahoo is allegedly building its own video platform to rival that of Google’s YouTube. And according to reports, it might be building the platform using YouTube talents.

According to sources of Recode.net, Yahoo is trying to win over popular YouTube content creators with larger monetary incentive and bigger ad revenues for their videos. The report event went so far to say that Yahoo! is promising extensive marketing and a chance for content providers to promote their video on the company’s home page.

Recode’s sources also mention that the platform will be initially available to the select content providers that Yahoo picked and it won’t be until after a year that ordinary users will be able to join the platform and upload their videos. To be able to make the platform more consumer-friendly, Yahoo may develop its own content management system or acquire an existing video service such as Vimeo.
