Windows 9 could have its own version of Cortana

Cortana, one of Windows Phone 8.1's niftiest features, could be making an appearance in Windows 9 according to Neowin. Microsoft has reportedly been testing a desktop version of Cortana for at least a month, and the software has allegedly made it from a "let us see if this works" stage to a "let us push this forward and see if we can ship it" stage.

As with Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana is expected to have deep integration with the operating system. At present, opening the app will open a window taking up roughly 25% of your display, where it possible to type a question or ask it verbally. Aesthetically, Cortana looks almost identical to her mobile counterpart.

We are expecting to see Windows 9 officially announced by the end of the year.
