Uniden’s GPS Calculates Carbon Emissions

  • 3D navigation
  • Calculate shortest route
  • Marks famous locations

No thicker than an iPhone, Uniden’s new GPS units feature a bright and intuitive touch-screen to display roads, landmarks and terrain in the vibrant 3D detail for which Uniden car navigation systems have become renowned.

Like most similar units from TomTom and Navman, Uniden has an array of features that include Junction View, which illustrates upcoming intersections. Used in conjunction with Advanced Lane Guidance, Signpost Information and Spoken Street Names, this new feature further ensures drivers receive the most accurate turn-by-turn instructions.

A Green Routing tool leads the range’s other new features. By calculating fuel consumption and carbon emissions across a number of route options, the driver can then select the journey which will have the smallest environmental impact. Alternatively, the system is also capable of calculating the fastest, shortest or easiest route from the available choices.

First time users, technophobes and older generations will appreciate the large icons, predictive text and logical menu design, as will tech savvy drivers when operating under the stressful conditions of becoming lost, says Uniden

Supported by its GPS website www.naviextras.com, all Uniden car navigation systems come with a Latest Map Guarantee, eliminating any worries drivers may have about out of date or incomplete maps.

Uniden is supporting the launch of its new GPS range by offering a free download of Rent-A-Map from Naviextras with every purchase until January 2011. Targeting holiday makers, the promotion allows drivers to rent a map for one of more than 70 countries for a one-month period completely free of charge*. A more practical and affordable solution for drivers who want to use their GPS while travelling overseas, Rent-A-Map provides access to international maps for a fraction of the cost of buying them outright.

Other features include:

  • 360 degree 3D Landmark Softwareshowing well-known locations such as King George Square, Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Sydney Opera House;
  • 360 degree 3D Terrain Softwareshowing road elevations and land contours including overpasses and bridges;
