Mobile world congress wraps up today in Barcelona and the question on everyone’s lips is did we see enough innovation and development to really get us exited?

As the big brands have increasingly turned to hosting their own events outside of big conventions like MWC, a large portion of interest now stems from the unique mobile developments of companies not in the big 4 of Apple, Samsung, Sony and LG.  

Here are my picks for the top 5 announcements of this year’s Mobile world congress.

Let’s see how the big guns fared. 

5) The Blackphone

We’ve been hearing about the Blackphone for months and it was finally unveiled to the tech world at MWC 2014.

This phone is built with security as its number one priority with a custom built Private OS developed on top of Android. The tamper-proof phone was developed by Geeksphone and is directly aimed at government agencies and contractors who need to maintain secure communications line.
