Telstra has made a prepaid 4GX dongle for your car

Telstra today announced the availability of a prepaid 4GX dongle designed to provide users with in-car Wi-Fi. The Telstra Prepaid 4GX Car Wi-Fi is a small stick that plugs into a car's USB slot or 12 volt power outlet to create a wireless hotspot that can serve up to five devices.

Users will also find a USB extension cable and AC wall charger included in the Telstra Prepaid 4GX Car Wi-Fi's box.

"With coverage across more than 2.4 million square kilometres of land, this product will help Aussies connect to the Telstra Mobile network in more places when they’re travelling," said Telstra GM of Emerging Mobile Devices Nick Broomfield. "Because it moves so easily from car to home, it’s ideal for families, weekend adventurers and business travellers as well."

Telstra's Prepaid 4GX Car Wi-Fi is available from today, and retails for AUD$79. The Prepaid 4GX Car Wi-Fi comes preloaded with 3GB of data (with a 30 day expiry), and can be recharged with a Prepaid Mobile Broadband Data Pass.

AUD$30 will give customers 3GB of data with a 30 day expiry, AUD$50 nets 5GB of data with a 365 day expiry, and AUD$140 buys 16GB of data with a two year expiry.

Two shorter length recharges are also available: a 1GB AUD$10 option with a three day expiry and a 2GB AUD$20 option with a seven day expiry.
