TCL’s 2018 TV lineup includes a $20,000 85-inch model and Google Assistant

TCL, one of the world’s largest television manufacturers, has announced its 2018 lineup.

The high-end model is the QLED Private Theatre X6; an 85-inch 4K display including a HDR processor and Quantum Dot technology to provide higher contrast, better detail and colour accuracy. It also integrates a sound system that can deliver 12 channels and virtual surround. Being the flagship model, these features don’t come cheap at an expected AUD$20,000 and will be available in March.

A new Android powered series, the P6 QUHD Android TV was also announced. Like its larger sibling, it delivers 4K content and HDR processing. The P6 series will be available in 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch models. The full list of pricing information is yet to be announced, but the 65-inch model will cost around AUD$2700 and will be available from April.

For a bit of extra variety, the C6 QUHD Android TV will also be available. Like the others, it features a 4K display and HDR processing and a very slim design. It also includes a soundbar on the bottom for a bit better audio quality than typical slim TVs can provide. The C6 series will be available in 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch models, and will be available from May onwards with the 65-inch model coming in at around AUD$3300. Pricing for the smaller models has not been revealed yet.

TCL’s Android powered TVs are expected to get Google Assistant functionality this year as well, meaning voice controls will be expanded to support smart home controls as well as expanded voice interactions.
